Request is to develop an integraiton with Aconex in the same way we have integration between Office and Autodesk product.
OR provide the necessary tools/interface to ease the integration.
OR have Bentley create a partnership with Aconex/Oracle to come out with some stadard to help us create mapping. (Reference: the transfert mapping between PWE and PW Manage Portfolio using a wizard)
Reason:
Most of the client use Aconex as they do not have to manage Design, Construction or Operation activities. Client is more concent about managing communications and keep a record of communications as oppose to manage the intellectual processes of design, for axample)
Two different concept that complement each other. The latter include the first but the first does does not necessarly include the second. However the fisrt will try to strech to include more feature of the latter.
The first is a cooperative tool as the second is collaborative tools
Small nuance that make a difference in their respective approach for the same project.
One will be oriented Document Management, the other process/workflow Management. Over time a larger gray zone exit between the two making it harder to make the distinction, but fondamentally the differencet still exist. Similare to what we have seen in the manufacturing between the PLM and the ERP.
As such Aconex is require as an interface so the client can preserve on their side a record of all the communications and relate activities.
If we could have a better integration between ProjectWise or ProjectWise Manage Portfolio and Aconex, this would allow a more semless integration and the whole industry could benfit from this.
